A Word From The Heart

Vintage Irish handmade embroidery / lace or leaves from a native Irish tree was pressed into the clay to create a decorative pattern on your heart. Anita has stamped a little Irish word in the clay using original printer's type. This wooden Gaelic font was once used by her father and grandfather in their printing business in Co. Meath.

Megalithic Marks

The carvings at Newgrange, Knowth and Loughcrew appeal to my love of textile design and surface decoration. Part of the magic is not knowing what they mean. I can see leaves, flowers and shapes from the skies but perhaps they were symbols or names for deities or royalty.

Woodland Lanterns

A tree sacred to the fairy folk serving as a gateway between worlds. A hawthorn that stands alone in the middle of a field can never be cut down as this will bring bad luck. Left alone it brings good luck but according to folklore you mustn’t bring hawthorn flowers indoors.

Anita's artwork is an interpretation of Irish heritage in clay and textiles. She has five ranges of framed textile art: Irish Birds, Irish Heritage, Landscapes, The Seasons and Carved in Cloth.

She also creates a range of ceramic Love Birds that are suitable for the garden. They come in nine vibrant colours that will add a splash of colour to any corner of your outdoor space.

Her Irish Woodland Lanterns are inspired by a love of native Irish trees. They come in Oak, Rowan, Hawthorn, Hazel, Apple and Birch. She presses leaves from her garden into the clay to create pieces that are touched by nature.

With the support of Foras na Gaeilge Anitas beautifully designed labels are bilingual. The folklore and information on each tree is translated into Gaelic.

Anita has also added Words from The Heart/ Focal on gCroí to her collection. Each heart is stamped with a meaningful Irish word using a set of antique printers type once used by her father and grandfather in their printing business in Co.Meath. Each piece is handmade and decorated with either vintage Irish lace/embroidery or a leaf from a native Irish tree in Anitas' garden. Each heart comes with a bilingual label that explains how the piece was created. Beautifully packaged in a branded box they make the perfect gift for lots of occasions.
