Join Anita at the old railway Storehouse in Kilmainhamwood Co. Meath for the new Greenway Festival Siamsa Glas. This building was her father’s printing workshop from the 1980s until 2001.

Here you will make a ceramic heart by pressing replicas of Gaelic printers’ type into slabs of clay. This type was once used by Anitas Dad to create invites, letterheads etc for his customers in this very building.

Choose from a list of small Irish words Anita uses in her own work like Grá, Cróga, Sonas
etc If participants have their own small words, they can use these also.
You will also go outside weather permitting to pick leaves from native Irish trees which you can press into your heart to create a unique piece of ceramics. You will learn the Irish names of the trees and some folklore associated with each one. Anita will speak a little Irish and encourage everyone to do the same!

She will also explain the history of the building and tell stories of her childhood working in the printing and living along the railway.

When your heart is made make sure to clearly mark your name on the back. Anita will fire and glaze each piece add a ribbon and pack in an ecofriendly box ready for collection from GNR café. Keep an eye on social media or leave your email address to find out when to collect.

Anita will work with a maximum group of 12 adults or children accompanied by adults
