May 8th Enfield Library, 10am - 12.30pm. All materials provided, you can also bring a denim garment in need of embellishment or repair if you wish.
Sashiko is a form of stitching traditional to Japan. It was used to repair worn places in clothing with stitching and patches. It is a very simple running stitch created with a white or red thread on an indigo fabric
Each participant will learn to stitch a Sashiko pattern on a scrap of denim. I will also show how to repair a hole or cover a stain. When the basics have been mastered, we can work on jeans etc that people have brought to the workshop.
Experience satisfaction and pride by saving a much-loved garment yourself. You can be creative with your repairs and personalise garments, so they become part of your story. No longer see a stain or rip as the end of a garment but an opportunity to be creative and extend its life.
Funded by Meath County Council Climate Action and Environment as part of the Green Fashion Awareness Campaign.
