These beautiful roses surrounded by abstract shapes look almost modern in design!! They were carved on a beautiful effigal tomb in Cruicetown Co Meath in the 1600s . This is the family tomb of the Cruice family.
Anita has always loved this enchanting site which is close to her childhood home in Ireland Ancient East. The stones are carved in high relief with roses leaves, wavy lines, abstract shapes and stylised leaf shapes. It is delightful in its joyful presentation of each design.
Anita is delighted to bring this little section of the original artists work to life on cotton with colourful dyes. Each piece is quilted using vibrant colours. Finished in machine embroidery she creates a tactile relief effect like the original carving.
